Services for Schools Online Ordering System
We save you time and money by providing the best books and artefacts to enrich all styles of learning.
We take pressure off teachers with practical help and sound advice on how to create an enticing library. Our advisors work with you to inspire children to love books and become more confident readers and independent learners.
The service has been invaluable. We are setting up a new library and at the outset this seemed like a massive task. The SLAMS team came in and assessed our stock quality, organised and re-labelled our non-fiction texts and provided us with a detailed report.
We are delighted with the service– thanks to the SLAMS team our new library is ready to open right on schedule.

To provide continuity, all schools and academies who subscribed in 2011–12 will continue to receive our loan services for terms 5 and 6. Subscriptions for 2012-13 will run from September to July 2013. If you are a new subscriber we will supply books for terms 5 and 6 in 2012 at no extra cost.
Instant displays – these consist of a box of books and two to three artefacts on a theme. Subscribing schools and academies can select an instant display instead of one of their regular topics.

Each teacher gets 30 books three times a year (90 books in total), selected to your specification to support your teaching plans.
These loans contain both fiction and non-fiction books, to support individual topics and cross-curricular themes. Our staff have a wealth of knowledge to ensure that the books are the best for your pupils’ interest level and reading ability. We can also provide a box of fiction books to support the Accelerated Reading scheme.
We deliver topic collections to schools and academies during the first two weeks of terms 1, 3 and 5. We collect them during the last two weeks of terms 2, 4 and 6.
Children can’t wait to get on board our colourful mobile library to explore a vast range of tempting reads: fiction, picture books, beginner reads, poetry, popular non-fiction and big books.
You can borrow one book per child (with a minimum of 175 per school or academy). These can be exchanged on our twice yearly visits.
We can time our visit to support your Book Week. Please give at least two months’ notice if you want us to arrange this. We also offer storytelling to groups of up to 20 pupils on board the vehicle.
Reading sets (sets of seven novels by popular authors) are free to subscribing schools and academies.
The East Sussex Book Award has become a much anticipated part of the school year. It encourages children in Year 5 to read five shortlisted books, discuss them, submit reviews to our website and then vote for the winner.
All schools and academies are invited to ‘meet the author’ events and to the final award ceremony. We have had a positive response from participating schools and academies about the impact on children’s enthusiasm for reading and improvements in literacy levels. The book award is open to all schools and academies but those who subscribe receive a discount on the fee.
