Under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999, the employer must consult and subsequently appoint a radiation protection advisor (RPA) who will advise the employer on radiological protection and compliance with the Regulations.
The purchasing of this service will ensure that your school complies with the legal requirements of the above regulations.

Service Details
- To support schools in meeting their statutory duties through membership of the CLEAPSS Radiation Protection Advisory Service;
- The appointment of a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) who will:
o Monitor practice and procedure, including the provision of remote advice and support;
o Conduct a monitoring visit on a bi-annual basis to ensure that the following is in place:
§ the record of sources is accurate;
§ the sources are appropriately stored;
§ the log of source use is kept up to date;
§ sources are checked for leakage at suitable intervals; and
§ the general source management and use is appropriate.
