Service Details

Offer for new subscribers in 2013

In 2012–13 we changed the pattern of service delivery to fit with the academic year. Subscriptions for this financial year will run from September 2013 to July 2014. If you are a new subscriber we will supply artefacts for terms 5 and 6 in 2013 at no extra cost.

You can either select specific artefacts from the catalogue or tell us your topic themes and leave us to select items on your behalf.

Many of our artefacts are original and unique, so we cannot always guarantee to supply every item that you have ordered. However, thematic ordering allows us suggest alternative suitable items to fit your topic.

We deliver museum loan boxes to schools during the first two weeks of terms 1, 3, and 5. We will collect them during the last two weeks of terms 2, 4, and 6.

Subscribing schools and academies enjoy a 50% discount on the travelling displays. Choose from:

• The Victorian Classroom, Kitchen, Laundry and Shop
• Working on the Land
• World War Two homes, including Anderson and Morrison air-raid shelters.

These displays are on loan for three weeks.

The museum loan boxes are an excellent stimulus for creative projects. Please talk to us about suitable artefacts to enrich your chosen theme.

Pricing

The cost of a subscription is £3.03 per pupil (£200 minimum charge and £1390 maximum charge per school).

Special offer: If your school has bought one of our library services (LM03, LM04 or LM05) you will receive a 15% discount on the price of your subscription to the Museum Loan Service. Find out more about library services.

Travelling displays

• £100 for three weeks for subscribing schools
• £200 for three weeks for non-subscribing schools

Pay-as-you-use loan boxes

You can borrow artefact boxes on a pay-as-you-use basis once all subscribing schools have had their deliveries.

They will be delivered from approximately the fourth week of terms 1,3, and 5. They will be collected by arrangement before the end of terms 2, 4, and 6.

Prices range from £30 to £50 per box with a minimum order of two boxes. There will be an administration and delivery charge of £25 which is waived if your school or academy collects.

Funded Support

Getting The Most From Your Service

Order your loans early so that we can allocate your boxes at the same time as other schools and academies. If you use topic themes, we may be able to supply more artefacts, but please feel free to order specific items that you particularly like.

Terms & Conditions

If you decide to withdraw from the service we will ask you to return all objects at the end of term 6. Any artefacts not returned within 10 weeks will be charged at market value.
