Service Details
We will:
- work with you to make sure your catering contract is correctly specified
- draft, advertise, evaluate and recommend the award of catering contracts, in line with the principles of best value
- develop and maintain good relationships between your school or academy and your contractors
- correspond with contractors on your behalf
- monitor and develop your service, including onsite visits followed by a verbal report and, if requested, written confirmation within five working days
- interpret your contract – this includes arranging variations to the contract when instructed by your school and applying deficiency or default procedures if the contractor fails to meet the terms of the contract
- attend your school council meetings and school food groups
- collect information on uptake of school meals for your school or academy and return the central Government National Indicator 52 report on your behalf
- maintain accurate records and data
- advise on healthy eating and offer guidance on creating a comprehensive school food policy
- assess the lunch/break service to ensure you are making best use of the space and time available, including managing queues and improving the dining environment
- establish cost effective arrangements to make sure regular maintenance work to the kitchen and kitchen equipment is carried out
- set up and operate a fully auditable administration and payment system for your school meal returns
- advise on and manage kitchen improvements
- ensure the menu is continually improved, in consultation with the pupils
- provide pest control measures, including insectocutors and fly screens if necessary
- regularly review heavy catering equipment and dining room furniture to make sure they support the efficient delivery of your service
- ensure that your service complies with the County Council’s Food and Pricing Policy (Adobe PDF, 35KB)
- liaise with environmental health officers and ensure that you comply with Government minimum nutritional standards, The Food Safety Act 1990, The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- respond promptly to complaints, queries and requests for advice.
